Identifying potential partners for the Customs Union member states on the conclusion of free trade agreements | 09-10-2013
Project Dates: September — November 2013

The project is implemented for MGIMO University of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The project objectives are the following:
  • to analyze the economic effects on trade and economy of the Customs Union member states from concluding free trade agreements (for the scenario of complete custom duties elimination and scenarios with industry exemptions) with the following countries: Vietnam, Israel, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Singapore, South Korea;

  • to perform a quantitative assessment of the impact of free trade agreements with potential partners on trade and economy of the Customs Union member states based on the cross-country computing model of general equilibrium GLOBE, including the calculation of changes:

    - the volume of production, exports and imports of the Customs Union states;
    - aggregate indicators of economic prosperity and employment in the Customs Union states;

  • to describe the optimal model to assess the economic benefits and costs for the Customs Union member states.
